With a variety of different games to take your fancy, its easy to get overwhelmed by choice. Read this value guide to find out if Torment: Tides of Numenera is worth its price tag!
With so many games being released in quick succession you’re probably watching through as many early access let’s plays as possible, ticking and crossing games off of your extremely long ‘To buy’ list.
We want to bring you the best content and educate you on new titles so you can make an informed choice. The subject of today’s topic is Torment: Tides of Numenera, a RPG with many mixed reviews some being extremely positive, some being extremely negative and most being somewhere in the middle.
From my own personal experiences of the game I have come to a fairly conclusive opinion on whether this game is worth the price tag.
First off, this game looks amazing.
The concept itself as well as how it differs to other RPGs, the way you are able to weave your own unique story and the influence you have on your in-game world allows you to be part of a world that you are truly the centre of.
Comparing Torment to games like The Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition presents a problem, it’s not your typical RPG. Torment: Tides of Numenera offer a ‘no-holds barred’ world where your choice affects the path you walk down, your choices prevent or open up availability to certain quests, turning NPCs into allies or enemies depending on the conversation you have.
If you’re a gamer that loves deep storylines, long, detailed games which take many, many hours to complete and perhaps more than one playthrough, then Torment: Tides of Numenera is a game you would get completely lost in.
Although the quest system in Torment is one of the best across the entire RPG genre and the game itself is probably one of the best in terms of character and story development, the game does have its cons.
Though, in my opinion the cons that the game may present are entirely subjective. If you want to know more about whether this game is for you before you buy it, read our buyers guide.
Torment: Tides of Numenera uses a combat system quite similar to that of Valkyria Chronicles; turn based combat that puts great emphasis on player strategy and positioning in order to achieve victory. Read more about it here.
So if you are a gamer who craves action and intensity across the entire game and likes to ravage through everything in your path, Torment: Tides of Numenera is not for you.
It would leave a hole in your bank balance and leave you resentful because of the money you spent on a game you don’t like.
But if you are a gamer who focuses on the storyline and immersive experience of a captivating game, then you would get the most value from this game. There are multiple ways you can play this game, each being as unique as the last. If navigating your way through intricate storylines sounds like something you would enjoy, then I would suggest you buy the game. You will enjoy and get a tonne of value from it.
